Theater X, has diverse musical influences, from the Andrew Sisters to The Beatles. From Led Zepplin to the Big Band sounds of Bennie Goodman to Blur & Coldplay and everything else in between. All three musicians are also songwriters, writing songs on their own, or collaborating with each other to flesh out compositions. Although mostly categorized as Alternative Rock, there are songs with a bluegrass lilt, new-folk leanings, and instrumentals ranging into techno and trance.
Theater X - Band Members
Brian Eric Smith (guitars, bass, vocals, keyboards). He has played with The Javelins, The Tonebenders, The Atomic Sky Spyderz, Animal House, The Brink, The Tweezers and Theater X. Brians musical influences include The Beatles, The Who, The Beach Boys, The Small Faces...Too many numerous Surf, British invasion & early psychedelic groups to mention here, The Shangri-las, Jimi Hendrix, Paul Revere & The Raiders and Eddies Cochran & Van Halen among many, many others. Added to the list of Brians many talents includes his keen ear for production and arrangement which he credits to the influence of Les Paul, Phil Spector, George Martin and Brian Wilson, as well as just the big reverberant sounds found on vintage rock`n roll records.
Mark Whobrey (drums, guitar, vocals). Mark has played with Warehouse, The Javelins, Naked Garden, Life Tap and Theater X. Life Tap had success as an opening band for Flaw in Louisville. The band also had a song in the running for the series Dragonball Z. Life Tap was featured on 105 - The Fox, radio stations Unsigned Primetime, in Louisville, KY. The station broadcast cuts from their album, Apocolytica, and an interview. Marks drumming style is most influenced by the likes of Rush, Led Zepplin and Buddy Rich. His professional goal is to be on the cover of Modern Drummer.
S. Alan Aker (guitar, bass, harmonica, keyboards, vocals). His credits include The Javelins, The Tone Benders, The Van Dells, Slap Happy, Joe Swank and the Zen Pirates, and Theater X. S. Alan felt privledged to tour with the Duke Robillard Band. Although he was Dukes Guitar tech, Duke proved to be a major influence. S. Alan just finished a mid-west tour with Joe Swank and the Zen Pirates. Other influences include The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Van Halen, Garbage, Cold Play, and Bugs Bunny. His professional goal is to be parodied by Weird Al Yankovic. ..

ATTENTION...STOLEN GUITAR!!!
This 1985 customized Squier Stratocaster was stolen on Wed. November 21st, 2007 from Romer Rd. in the Kensington neighborhood of Liverpool, UK
Strat is aged & slightly worn & weatherchecked vintage white with a hand back-painted multicolor pickguard that is mostly blue-ish. It has a new white F-spaced Dimarzio PAF humbucker angle mounted in the bridge position instead of the worn looking pickup shown here & two aged white single coils in the middle & neck positions. The middle is the factory unlabeled Squier & the neck is a Jackson J-100. At the time of theft, it had a textured green shamrock decal on the upper body horn & a faded 'cherry bomb' decal on the upper back & no backplate. It has a hand scalloped maple neck with no finish on fingerboard or back of the neck. The back of the neck has a walnut trussrod 'skunk' stripe & the guitar has Schaller locking tuners & a Gotoh 510t roller saddle bridge. It was in a standard Fender style black tolex case made by Harptone with white piping & smooth black vinyl trim on the ends. Case is worn with a few tears in the vinyl on the rounded areas & at the time of theft, had orange & blue Delta airlines 'Fragile' & 'Handle With care' stickers all over it. The inside is lined with burgundy crushed velvet.
