Tim Anthony / The Brambles

Tim Anthony's songs have played on NBC's FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, MTV & VH-1. ROOM RAIDERS, 8TH & OCEAN, MY SUPER SWEET 16, & MADE. Tim's songs have also played on numerous HBO Specials and many PBS Specials. A show called Discovery, New talent On The Rise as well as classical music specials, would you believe. We will keep you posted on many more placements as they happen.

"Retrofit" Tim Anthony VOTED #1 RELEASE 2008! Powerpopaction.com (Spain)
Historic first recordings by Tim Anthony, founding member of those pop-juggernauts The Brambles. Tommy Allen & Gary Frenay (Flashcubes ) also appear on this disc as an added bonus.

"Don’t Forget Me" was The Agents first and only single. It sold 1000 copies, pretty good for not having an Internet. It helped put the band on the map and get some gigs. Elektra Records showed interest but soon waned. A special thank you to Gary Frenay (Flashcubes) for his help. Agents of the Future, was the B-side of above song. Mark Sirianni and I wrote this together and for once I compromised, pop meets prog –rock.

"Traciann" has been said to be my best song ever. This song was to be the next Agents single but did not happen. Famed producer Jimmie Ienner called me to say this song was a bonafide hit, but he did not want to pursue it. I asked him if he was crazy! Relations broke down. Bruce Lundvall (Capitol Records), Tom Trumbo (Elektra Records), Aaron Jacoves (A&M Records), were calling me now based on this song. You decide, is it or was it a hit?

"Never Thought You’d Go", was to be the next B-side. I wanted to write a heavier song. I think I did. This was the last session for The Agents as a band. Lee Cominsky joined the band as an additional guitar player for a few months and proceeded to join the army.  Good-bye to The Agents, Hello solo Ville!

"Never Gonna Cry", was the first song I recorded to start my wonderful solo career. A special thank you to Rick Krzyzak for being a good friend and a great drummer.  "Maryellen" has a neat history, this song would be played on NBC’s Friday Night Lights Dec 2007. The version played would be from my 2005 release "The Happy Door", a #1 in Spain.  "She Broke My Heart" was just straight up pop. Nuff said.

"For No One Can" & "The Heart Of Every Man", I enlisted Tommy Allen (famed drummer, Flashcubes) to help me out. He did not disappoint. He did a brilliant job. Also there was "Brandy". "Don’t Look In Her Eyes" & "Mystery" got the attention Of David Geffen & his V.P. Carole Childs. They called me several times amongst others. There was a bit of a buzz then. The buzz died.  Don’t Look In Her Eyes & Mystery were the last songs I would ever record at Chase Media. It was a wonderful time in my life and wish I could live it all over again.

"Happy Ending" was the first of many songs recorded by my next band The Brambles. A&R rep Rachel Matthews (Capitol Records), called as well as Gay Lynn Kaiser (RCA Records), who wanted to sign me based on this song. Her Boss felt differently. All told about 15 A&R reps called me through the years to discuss my songs and me, these calls would not be the last ones either. The future was just ahead. 2005 - 2006 Best Of Lists Tim Anthony, "THE HAPPY DOOR" #1 GLOBORECORDS.NET (Spain) , #13 KEITH COOK (music critic), #22 MARK BIALCZAK, ,Music Editor- Syracuse Newspapers.  #25 WRUW.ORG, Cleveland, Ohio. #64 POPMADRID.COM (Spain). #78 DAVID BASH INTERNATIONALPOPOVERTHROW.COM.

TIM ANTHONY BIO 2008 There once was a time when the heavy weights and the captains of the music industry pursued Tim Anthony. David Geffen & Carole Childs (Geffen Records), Jimmie Ienner, famed producer (Raspberries, Grand Funk, Bay City Rollers), Rachel Matthews, Bruce Lundvall (Capitol Records, Elektra Records), Aaron Jacoves (A&M Records) Lennie Petze (Sony Music) & Irving Azoff.

Fast forward to the 90’s; Tim spent most of his time touring with his band The Brambles in Europe and all over The United States. The constant touring led to national distribution of The Brambles’ cd’s in Borders Books & Music stores and other major chains.

Fast-forward again to the 2000’s, with Tim always being a mover & a shaker, and never happy to rest on past victories decided to record and tour solo. Tim released "THE HAPPY DOOR" in November 2005 and this led to being Voted #1 Release in Spain of all places. Amplifier Magazine called "THE HAPPY DOOR” 40 minutes of melodic magic”. South Australian Life from Adelaide, Australia states, “THE HAPPY DOOR" is a collection of well-crafted pop songs filled with tight vocal harmonies and hook filled melodies”.

In June of 2008 Tim released another cd RETROFIT, a look back at his Historic first recordings. Where it all began with much critical praise. Mark Bialczak writes “Gems from the past”, Syracuse Post Standard. “Classic pop songs from the past much like his current catalog in the vein of Dwight Twilley”, Eric Sorensen, Not Lame Blog. Tim has appeared on 7 compilations worldwide, One from Canada, three from Japan & three from America. Tim has had 2 licensing deals in Japan. THE HAPPY DOOR & RETROFIT is the latest in a series of successful projects involving Tim Anthony.

In 2006 Tim signed a long term contract with MTV Networks A Division OF Viacom Intl, and Emotional Pictures / Granada Television. MTV & VH-1 have played Tim’s songs on reality shows such as “MADE”, “MY SUPER SWEET 16”, “8TH & OCEAN” and “ROOM RAIDERS”. NBC recently played Tim’s song “MARYELLEN” on Friday Night Lights. Tim’s songs have played on HBO Specials, PBS Specials as well as 167 plays & placements in various cable shows in America, Europe & Australia.

In April 2006 Tim signed a contract with 5 Alarm Music & Rescue Records in Los Angeles. CA. Tim’s songs have been featured in CINEMASOUNDS as well. Over 11,000 Regal Cinemas across America play Tim’s songs between feature films. Over 20 million people at any given time are listening to Tim’s songs. Ladies & gentlemen, the act you have always wanted to discover, TIM ANTHONY. Right now Tim Anthony is working on several projects as we speak. Another new solo cd, another Brambles release is being assembled as we speak.STAY TUNED...RETROFIT IS NOW AVAILABLE...

Lost Recordings - The Brambles
Recently found in a dusty box in a dusty basement were the original analog 8 - track tapes of The Brambles recordings from January 2nd & 3rd 1990. 21 songs in all were recorded in those two lengthy sessions. Tim Anthony (vox/guitar) & Tom Aureli (drum kit) got together to do the basic tracks and Lou Anthony (vox/bass) would record his parts later as he could not make the initial sessions (again we might add lol). The Brambles reigned supreme as a 3 - piece power pop group from central NY. Their tenure was from Oct 1987 – 1993. Tom Aureli moved to Los Angeles to become a session musician. The band became a duo of Tim & Lou and continue to tour and record to this day. These tracks were recorded during The Brambles heyday. Several other musicians were in the band temporarily but the original 3 piece is where the band excelled. These songs were never really meant for public consumption although some have come out on various solo Tim Anthony cd’s or Bramble cd’s. Some have been re-recorded and released but most remain unreleased or unheard until now. These tracks were meant as demo guides to be recorded at a later date more professionally or so The Brambles thought. Time, women & money were the excuses heard at the time for not recording the songs more properly. But upon finding these gems long thought lost Tim Anthony got the idea to finally release them as they are. Could they have been done better? Sure! But these recordings were for the band to learn songs not for the public. These recordings capture a snapshot of a band in heat if you will. A time when their spring was new and they were kings of their time, albeit a short time. There was a scene then and The Brambles were leading the way. These are The Brambles as they were, real and fun. The Lost Recordings, no longer lost!
