It was the day before the day before yesterday - singer Paisley Play-Doh was working as a scrubber for a Dutch TV station when she received a wrongly dialled telephone call from New Zealand's most famous Freeman's Catalogue model, Charlie Darling .....
Their confused conversation led to futile and spurilous arguments about the cost of Wold Fat and the number of fish in the atmosphere. In addition, and also weirdly, they discussed just how much they could nick off Abba, The Ants, Ultravox and old Cliff Richard movies .....
So Paisley and Charlie formed a pop duo, in the long and distinguished tradition of Yazoo, The Pet Shop Boys, Peter & Gordon and PJ and Duncan. Their mission was simple - bring joy to the masses and spread the word - don't be afraid of Pop Music - despite Simon Cowell - it doesn't hurt.
By lying about their abilities, they managed to secure a residency at 'The Disco At The End Of The Universe' playing pop songs to their hearts content.
The day before yesterday the band rehearsed ..... Yesterday the band had their first argument about musical direction .....Today they are still together .....
Taking a break from our E-Pop campaign with 'Detox Cute and the Beauty Junkies,' we left our bedsit, borrowed Paul Bevoir's magical balloon and, after a quick stop at the Disco At The End Of The Universe, went on a fantastic trip to the 60's.
While we were there we said "hello" to Cilla and Cliff, watched 'Darling' and 'Billy Liar' with Julie Christie - 'Please Sir' with the Fenn Street Gang - rubbed shoulders with 'the Double Deckers' and generally had a wonderful time.
While we there wrote and recorded some new songs, altogether rather more mellow than our Detox Cute 'Pop/Trash' sound, which reflect the relaxed and easy-going surroundings we found ourselves in.
After all, back in the 60's there was no-one there hassling us at the bedsit for rent, Paul and Mickey were always popping in for tea and the United Kingdom somehow kept doing well in the Eurovision song contest! Ah, those indeed, were the days!
