"Just Barely Famous"is the latest release engineered, produced and performed by Illinois pop artist Herb Eimerman, brought to us by Under The Dome Recordingsand Jam Records. This album is a beautifully and precisely arranged collection of polsihed pop gems written by Eimerman, with co-writing assistance from Stefan Johansson on several of the songs. "Unbreakable", "The Ocean Is Blue", "Tell My Why" and "Be Those Things" among a few other tracks are set over energetic power pop templates full of catchy hooks, jangly 12 string rickenbacker guitar rifs, thunderous drums and smooth vocal harmonies, with glorious upbeat melodies consistent in familiarity of some of the earlier Brit pop songs of the late 60's. "Inside Joke", "The Attraction", "Tell Me Where" and "In Your Life" demonstrate the refinement of some of the more conventional pop-folk style songs of the mid to late 70's. While"Vanished Shadows" and I'll leave It Up To You" carry out with a more generalized classic pop-rock feel. Included amongst this fine assortment of songs as an extra bonus is a (solo) cover of George Harrison's "Stuck In A Cloud" with excellent intrumentation and crisp heavenly vocals in Eimerman's own signature style. Additonally this album features special quests including Becca with her eligant background vocals on "Where I'm at With You." and Wojtek Krupka playing piano on "In Your Life." To those of you looking for the luscious gourmet flavor of good old school style pop gems with a pinch of spice, I highly recommend this album!
