'Infinite Soul' is a fifteen track release that distills the band's first four albums and one new track into one 'greatest hits' package on this debut release on the Wicked Cool label. The band write very effective, catchy and well played psych tinged jangly pop, all topped off with lots ofharmonious vocals.
'Love's Lost On You', 'Save My Life', 'Closer To Love', 'Infinite Soul' and 'She Brings the Rain' are all fine examples of the Grip Weeds sound, but to be honest, highlighting any particular tracks is unfair, as this album is all killer and no filler!
The songs are well arranged and crisp guitar rythmns intertwine with melodic basslines with occasional organ and mellotron textures thrown in for good measure. The drums provide the energy that supplies all the songs with a sense of urgency without being overplayed, this is the sound of a band whose members have learned how to work together to get the best results by all pulling together. Everything has it's own place within the songs and this economy means that the songs have clarity and there is absolutely no extra unwanted fat, just pure lean precision songwriting and arranging.
'Infinite Soul' is packed with eminently listenable melodic pop gems sprinkled with cool psych overtones. You can be assured that this album is well worth checking out as you will not be disappointed by what's contained within.
